Partner Visa
Are you looking to start your life together Australia?
The Australian Partner Visa is for those in a genuine relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen, allowing you to live in Australia with your partner. The process begins with the temporary Partner Visa (subclass 820/309), followed by the permanent Partner Visa (subclass 801/100). You will need to provide evidence of your on-going relationship and living arrangements.
Partner Visa Types
Offshore Partner Subclass (309/100) Visa
For offshore applicants, the Partner Visa (subclass 309/100) allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia once the temporary visa (subclass 309) is granted. This visa has two stages: subclass 309 grants temporary residency, and later, subclass 100 provides permanent residency once the relationship is confirmed and all eligibility requirements are met. The partner must demonstrate that
the relationship is genuine, which the Department assesses across five areas: the nature of the relationship, social and family aspects, household, financial aspects, and mutual commitments.
Onshore Partner Subclass (820/801) Visa
For cases of partners who are in Australia, the Partner Visa (subclass 820/801) allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia once the temporary visa (subclass 820) is granted.
